Northwestern University Research: Can Digital Tools Improve Mental Health?

Researchers from Northwestern University's Lab for Scalable Mental Health partnered with Alongside to conduct a real-world trial with the goal of contributing to the broader understanding of how technology can be leveraged to address mental health challenges among students.

This open pilot evaluation examined trajectories of mental health problems and well-being among middle and high school students who used the Alongside platform across a 3-month period.

Digital interventions to support various aspects of student mental health, including:

  • overall distress
  • anxiety
  • depression
  • hopelessness
  • loneliness

Watch the recording as Northwestern's lead researcher Dr. Jessica Schleider, Ph.D. shares top-line results including student improvement in just one month of use.
